Marybelle Fitzsimmons is excited to return to the St. Peter Catholic School community as the 4th and 5th grade Social Studies teacher. She was raised in Covington and is a proud alumna of St. Peter. Marybelle earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Louisiana State University and a Master of Arts in Teaching with a concentration in Social Studies through LSU’s Holmes Program. She began her teaching career at St. Peter, where she taught 6th grade Social Studies and Religion from 2013 to 2015. Marybelle then spent nine years teaching 4th grade Reading at The Academy of the Sacred Heart in New Orleans. After welcoming her second son, she took a year away from full-time teaching to stay home with him and continued to stay active in the classroom by substituting at St. Peter. Marybelle is passionate about helping students grow both academically and personally, and she feels blessed to teach in a faith-filled environment. She lives by the words of St. Madeleine Sophie Barat: “For the sake of one child.” She and her husband, Brad, moved back to Covington last summer with their two sons, Roy and Bobby, with Roy starting in Key Cottage at St. Peter this year. Marybelle is excited to share her deep love of learning, along with a strong sense of joy, community, and curiosity, in her teaching each day.
